Amid humanitarian crises in Syria and Iraq and debate in the U.S. about how to address them, a panel of Kansas City-area faith leaders discuss religious teachings and traditions and whether they could or should guide national policy.
Participants include Brian Steed, a Middle East specialist at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth; the Rev. Vernon Howard Jr., president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Greater Kansas City; Fadi Banyalmarjeh, a member of the board of the Islamic Society of Greater Kansas City; Rabbi Linda Steigman, a member of the board of Rabbinical Association of Greater Kansas City; and the Rev. Paul Turner, Ecumenical Officer for the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. Bill Tammeus will moderate.
The event, part of the Library’s 2016 Immigrant Heritage Series, is co-presented by the American Friends Service Committee and the Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council.
